The single most forgettable benefit in dining rewards is also one of the most valuable: the Amex Resy statement credit. It isn't earned, it isn't boosted, it doesn't stack-think — it's plain money that disappears on a schedule if you don't dine.
The clocks, by card
| Card | Annual total | The clock |
|---|---|---|
| Amex Platinum | up to $400 | $100 per calendar quarter |
| Amex Gold | up to $100 | $50 per half (Jan–Jun, Jul–Dec) |
| Delta SkyMiles Reserve | up to $240 | $20 per month |
Every window is use-it-or-lose-it. Nothing rolls over. A Platinum holder who only remembers the credit in December captures $100 of a possible $400.
How it actually triggers
- Dine at any of the 10,000+ U.S. restaurants on Resy — the credit is about where you eat, not how you book. (Booking on Resy is the easy way to confirm a restaurant counts.)
- Pay with the enrolled Amex card. The credit posts as a statement credit, typically within a few weeks, up to your window's cap.
- Enrollment is required once, in your Amex benefits dashboard — the benefit is not automatic on a fresh card.
There's no minimum spend: a $40 lunch on a Platinum pulls $40 of that quarter's $100.
The cadence that captures all of it
The failure mode is treating the credit as a pleasant surprise instead of a schedule. The fix is one habit per card:
- Platinum: put one "Resy dinner" in the first month of each quarter — January, April, July, October. Never spend Q4's credit on December 31st panic-dining again.
- Gold: one nice dinner each half, booked early — a $50+ check in February and another in August does it.
- Delta Reserve: make a Resy restaurant your default for one meal a month; $20 covers a weekday lunch.
If a quarter is slipping away, remember takeout from a Resy restaurant charged to the enrolled card counts just the same.
Worth re-checking in 2026
The 2026 Amex Gold refresh left the Resy credit unchanged but reshuffled the card's other dining credit (the $10/month one) to new partners — the two credits are separate benefits with separate rules. If you carry the Platinum, note the four quarterly windows opened with the card's 2025 refresh; older guides describing a single annual amount are out of date.
